Through our purpose of building a better coffee world, we are committed to reaching holistic sustainability for everyone involved in the coffee supply chain, understanding that producers are the core and essence of coffee. With our proprietary LIFT platform, we work with producers to transform how coffee is responsibly produced while creating wonderful green coffee blends that can transport you all the way to Origins.

Mercon Specialty’s Ipê Amarelo is a blend entirely sourced from LIFT producers in the Cerrado Mineiro Region in Brazil. It is the result of Mercon Specialty’s extensive effort and expertise when it comes to creating the best signature and specialty coffees.

According to Scott McMartin, Mercon Specialty’s Director of Coffee “… When we started tasting samples for a Mercon Specialty signature coffee from Brazil, we knew that we wanted a coffee with a full, silky body, deep chocolate notes, and a pleasant acidity that would provide a great, balanced cup. After tasting an exhaustive number of samples, we landed on a coffee blend we’ve named Ipê Amarelo, the national flower of Brazil.”

Our Ipê Amarelo, crafted in 2020, has unique characteristics of brown sugar, cocoa, peanut butter, honey, light currant, and heavy body, which makes it possible to consume in espresso, single origin, and blended coffees.

Besides having the LIFT signature (technified production, certified farmers, responsibly sourced), Ipê Amarelo is the perfect example of the amazing quality of coffee that characterizes Brazil. Its unique connection to the region prompted the inspiration behind its name, one that perfectly captures the quintessence of this Origin – the Ipê Amarelo trees. These are the best-known, most cultivated, and undoubtedly the most beautiful trees in Brazil. There is no region of the country where there isn’t at least one Ipê Amarelo.

It was important to us to create a product that represents Brazil in all its essence, as a way to also connect and portray the hard work of producers in the region. For instance, Cesar and Sandra Galli are LIFT producers from the city of Itapira Minas Gerais, whose production it’s been used to develop the Ipê Amarelo Specialty Coffee. Despite working in coffee production for more than 25 years, Cesar and Sandra recognize that partnering with Mercon and joining the LIFT platform has been key to ensuring sustainable coffee production, while also accessing larger market shares.
